MADRID, Oct. 6 (Xinhua) -- The Spanish government has passed on Friday a decree that makes it easier for companies to leave Spain's northeastern region of Catalonia, where an illegal independence referendum was held on Sunday and fears of a unilateral declaration of independence are rising.


The Spanish government announced this decree on a press conference after the cabinet meeting where Spain's Minister of Competitiveness, Luis de Guindos, said that "the government does nothing, it only changes the body where the decision lies, but the move depends on the company."


The decree makes it easier for companies to leave Catalonia and move their headquarters to other places in Spain as the decision would not need to be passed by the shareholder meeting, unless the company's statutes say the opposite.


Several companies are considering leaving Catalonia due to the illegal referendum held on Sunday whose final results were released on Friday with a 43.03 percent of participation, 90.18 percent voting "Yes", 7.83 percent voting "No", 1.98 percent voting in blank and 19,719 ballots were considered nulls.


Meanwhile, Friday saw three companies take the decision to leave Catalonia: Banco Mediolanum to Madrid, Arqui cooperative to Valencia and Gas Natural to Madrid, local media reported.


On Thursday Banc Sabadell took the decision of moving its headquarters to Alicante. Other companies took the same decision of leaving Catalonia such as Oryzon Genomics, Eurona or Dogi, while others are discussing the issue.




BELGRADE, July 14 (Xinhua) -- Economic cooperation between Serbia and Australia can be expanded, with Serbian diaspora in that country remaining their biggest "bridge of cooperation," Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop said Friday.


During her official visit, Bishop met newly-elected Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic and the Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic. It was the first visit of an Australian FM to Serbia after 30 years.


During her meeting with Brnabic, Bishop praised Serbian progress in European integration and said that the Australian government supports efforts to open more accession chapters with the European Union as soon as possible.


The two agreed that "in future the two sides should work more on joint projects that give good results such as project Jadar." It refers to one of the largest lithium deposits in the world conducted by company Rio Tinto in Loznica, a city in west Serbia.


"At the meeting it was confirmed that Serbian diaspora in Australia represented one of the most important cooperation bridges of the past as well as for the future and that more attention should be directed to it by organizing different activities," the government release reads.


According to the 2011 census in Australia around 70,000 people of Serbian ancestry or Serbian-born were registered mostly in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth and represent a large diaspora community in that country.


Brnabic told Bishop that there is a mutual interest to strengthen bilateral ties in the areas of economy, culture and education, the government stated.


Bishop and Dacic agreed that there is a need to deepen and expand the specter of economic cooperation in areas such as exploitation of mines, investments, agriculture and tourism, along with cooperation in culture, sports and other fields.


"The two sides have expressed interest for the simplification of the procedure for applying for Australian visas for Serbian citizens," the ministry of foreign affairs of Serbia stated in a press release.

New Delhi: Even as the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) comprising of Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman is trying its best to find a solution to the ongoing tussle between India skipper Virat Kohli and coach Anil Kumble, the SC-appointed Committee of Administrators (COA) feel that the captain’s stance holds importance because going against the skipper might end up spoiling the whole equation in the team.

Speaking to Cricketnext, a source in the COA said that while the committee has stayed away from the decision process, it is important that Kohli and Kumble are on the same page before the latter is handed an extension because the atmosphere in the team will take a beating if Kumble continues against Kohli’s wish.
